Barbara Anadio Ciocca, 85, peacefully passed on July 3, 2018 in Sarasota, Florida surrounded by family after a valiant struggle with interstitial lung disease.

Barbara was born on February 18, 1933 to the late Barbara and Anthony Anadio in Gloversville, NY, where she grew up and married Benjamin Ciocca, her beloved husband for nearly 61 years. For 52 of those years, her cherished home was in New Hartford, NY.

Barb was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, master cook and baker, dedicated N.Y. Yankees fan, and vibrant conversationalist. The eldest of eight children, Barb developed her lifelong passion for taking care of others by watching over her seven younger siblings at a very young age. Her keen attention to detail and genuine interest in others defined her every action. Like the pineapple symbol, Barb epitomized hospitality and cherished every gathering of family and friends. She was adept at engaging anyone she met in a caring conversation and made the best sausage bread, apple pie, fudge, tabouli, and sausage stuffing in the world.

Barbara will always be held in the hearts of her husband, Benjamin Ciocca of Bradenton, Florida, and children Michael Ciocca (Terri-Jo) of Milford, CT, David Ciocca and Kristin Ciocca Rence (Phil) of Sarasota, FL. She will also be remembered by her adoring grandchildren Christopher, Meredith, and Abigail, and brothers Anthony Anadio (Patricia), Peter Anadio (Edna), and Benjamin Anadio (Pauline) along with many wonderful sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and grand-dog, Baci. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Joseph Anadio, Carl Anadio, and Edwin Anadio, her sister, Elsie Anadio Salino, and grand-dog Buca.

Friends are welcome to call at the Friedel, Williams, and Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass celebrating her life will take place at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, New Hartford, NY at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 13, 2018. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, NY.

Barbara’s family would like to express a special thanks to the caring staff at Sarasota Memorial Hospital as well as to the many friends and family members for their continuous support. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice in Barbara’s honor.
