Arthur J. Hornett, 84, of New Hartford, died December 10, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 18, 1937, in Utica, son of the late Anne Bernadette O’Brien and Arthur M. Hornett. He attended Blessed Sacrament School and graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School and MVCC.

Arthur married Mary Seymour June 25, 1966, in Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica.

He was employed as a cost accountant with Bendix Corp and then as Comptroller of Mohawk Containers until his retirement.

Art was an avid Red Sox, Mets, Giants and Buffalo Bills fan. He enjoyed a good game of golf and was a member of the Glass Hill Golf Club in Barneveld. He also enjoyed the times he spent at camp on Sixth Lake. Most of all, he loved being with his family and friends sharing stories, playing pitch and drinking wine. He was very proud of his 100% Irish Heritage and will be remembered for his quick wit.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Mary and his three daughters Patricia (Donald) McHarris, Sheila (Patrick) Ward and Katie (Steve) Achen; his eight grandchildren Danielle (Luke) Manolescu, Patrick McHarris (Daniele Casper), Matthew McHarris, Patrick Ward, Rachel Ward, Zachary, Daniel and Abby Achen; his in-laws, Loraine and Robert Loomis, Jack Campisi and Robert Simpson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by twin sister Patricia Fletcher, his sister Mary Therese Simpson and his in-laws Beverly Campisi, Connie and Earle Fletcher and Kenneth Seymour.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Marcy Canary and her staff at Bassett Healthcare for all of their care for Arthur.
