Anna Hand Richards, 101, of Sauquoit, died on Saturday February 3, 2018, at home.

She was born on July 27, 1916, in Paris Hill, NY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Julia O’Dowd Hand. She was educated in Paris Hill, Chadwicks High School and Syracuse University. On June 11, 1938, Anna married Joseph E. Richards in St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chadwicks, NY and he died in 1995.
She worked at the Willovale Bleachery, the New York Central Railroad and as an Amway Distributor.

Anna was a member of the St. Patrick/St. Anthony Church in Chadwicks, where she was involved with the Altar and Rosary Society for many years, the Girls Scouts, Sauquoit Valley Central School Mother’s Club and PTA and New Hartford Senior Citizens' Bridge Club.
Anna enjoyed sewing, knitting, bowling, bridge, baking pies and followed with great joy all the activities of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Claire and James O’Rourke of Boonville and Richmond, VA; Joanne and Robert Byrnes of New Hartford; 6 grandchildren, Thomas (Edith) O’Rourke of Boonville, Michael (Jeremy Carling) O’Rourke of Minneapolis, MN, Anne (Kyle) Stephenson of Richmond, VA, James (Emily) O’Rourke of Contoocook, NH, Patrick (Ruth) O’Rourke of Silver Springs, MD and Brian (Lindsay) Byrnes of Manlius, NY; great grandchildren, Matthew, Kevin, Ryan, Liam, Thea, Cullan and Makena O’Rourke, Kyle, Julia and Warrick Stephenson, and Ian Byrnes. She was predeceased by her siblings, Julia E. Hand, James M. Hand, Bedelia Henderson, Mary L. Facchini and Thomas Hand.

The funeral will be on Saturday at 1:00 pm at St. Patrick/St. Anthony Church, Chadwicks, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in St, Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton in the spring. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
