Ann D. Canfield, 91, of New Hartford, passed away August 1, 2022 at LutheranCare.

Born August 19, 1930, in Utica, Ann was the daughter of the late Simon and Madelyn Diefenbach. Raised in Scranton, PA, she was a graduate of Marywood College in Scranton.
Ann was formerly married to Gene W. Canfield.

Ann taught Home Economics at Whitesboro Central Schools for a brief period of time and worked as a pollster for Zogby International for over 20 years.
As a faithful and devoted Catholic, Ann was a longtime member of Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica, serving in multiple capacities. Ann was a Fulcrum Minister and served on the Board of the Utica Rescue Mission for 29 years.

She was community minded, a business woman, loving mother and grandmother. Ann will be remembered as a sunny, optimistic, creative and inspirational woman.

Ann is survived by her children Donald Canfield (Ginger), Cathe Zimmerman (Frank), Jennifer Dudgeon (Jack), Anne Kuhn (Mark) and Mark Canfield (Joanne); grandchildren Nicole and Taylor Kuhn, Sarah Akins (Sean), Margaret Mizah, Emily and Eric Canfield and Alexis Canfield; great grandchildren Wesley and Madeline Akins and Evelyn Mizah.

Calling hours are on Wednesday August 17, 2022 from 4-6 PM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd, New Hartford. The funeral will be Thursday August 18, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Historic Old St. John’s Church, Utica, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
