Allan was a very kind soul, and had an impact on generations of 4-H families. When I began work with the NYS 4-H Foundation in 2000, Allan was the editor of the '5-H News'. I enjoyed the stories he would tell and efforts to keep the retired 4-H staff connected across decades. As a NH native, I was familiar with the Smith and Weeks families, and was delighted to get to know Allan.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Turner family.

One of my favorite things is a carved bluebird that Al made for me as a retirement gift. He was my first “boss” and the years we spent together in Livingston County were among the best years in my 4-H career. I learned a lot from him over the years, for which I am greatful. My sincere condolences to Barbara and the whole Turner family.

To Andy and the rest of the Turner Family,

My condolences to you all for your loss of Allan....I have known him for decades as part of the 4-H Family! He was a very kind, personable man who had a fun loving spirit and willingness to offer advice to younger educators.

A favorite memory of Allan that I have was playing tennis during a break at a state 4-H conference.

Again, my condolences!! Tom Davis
